Registration for the 2017 Friends of Andersonville Summer Reading Program is now closed. If you would like to be added to our waitlist, please email us at andersonvillereaders@gmail.

The program starts on Wednesday July 12. Our tent will be outside of Women & Children First Bookstore (5233 N. Clark Street) between 4pm and 7pm. Each Wednesday through August 30, we will be back at the same spot between 4pm and 7pm to check in on reading progress and pick up prizes and coupons for more books.

Sponsor a Child

Please help sponsor a child for the 2017 summer reading program for $50 today! Of course we will take more or less. The organization is 100% volunteer based – no one takes any money home – and every dollar donated goes to support children’s literacy.


Friends of Andersonville is a volunteer driven non-profit focused on improving the lives of children in the community. Dr. Becky McTague, a professor of early childhood literacy at Roosevelt University, helped us develop the program. This program multiplies the effect of each dollar in the community from improving the lives and experiences of children to supporting local businesses to building a community around childhood literacy.
